Packing List


Glorieta is located in the southern Rocky Mountains in Northern New Mexico and can range from very hot to very cold. One day it could be 85 degrees and the next it could be snowing. You will need to pack a variety of clothes to make sure you are equipped for every type of weather condition. The majority of your clothes can be those that you find comfortable, but you will need some specific items for personal and Momentous led adventures. See the packing list below:

Outdoor Gear: (tents and food will be provided for you)

  • Hiking boots, broken in by you. They must feel good to walk in for sometimes 10 miles a day. Start breaking them in now!

  • *Backpacking pack sized 50-90 liters

  • *Sleeping bag in a stuff sack; 15-30ºF or warmer backpacking bag weighing under 4 pounds (packable, smaller, and lighter, but still warm).

  • *Sleeping pad (foam, inflatable, etc.)

  • 2 durable 1-liter water bottles/Nalgenes, or 1 water bottle and a CamelBak

  • Headlamp with extra batteries

  • Non-breakable cup, bowl (or plate), spoon, fork, knife

  • Small camping pillow (stuffable) optional- filling your sleeping bag stuff sack with clothes also works great.

  • Medium-sized camp towel

  • Day pack with chest strap and hip belt


* You will also be able to rent these items if you do not want to purchase them.

 

Optional Gear:

  • Trekking poles

  • Mountain Bike and helmet (there are a lot of trails on the camp property).

  • Personal rock climbing gear (all necessary gear will be provided, but if you have your own shoes, harness, etc., then please feel free to bring it)

 

Outdoor Apparel/ Clothes:
**It’s very important that you DO NOT bring cotton clothing for our backpacking trip! Cotton traps moisture and loses any insulation when wet, so if you’re wet, you’ll also be very cold. Bring wool, polyester, and/or other synthetic fabrics instead. Down jackets are warm, but only if they stay dry.

  • 3 pairs of Wool/Smartwool socks

  • 2-3 fleece/wool/down layers, one light and at least one thicker for the colder nights

  • Long underwear (at least pants) for camp and sleeping in

  • 2 pairs of hiking pants and 2 pairs of comfortable hiking shorts. Wicking/quick-drying—​NO​ cotton

  • 2-3 polypro/wicking material shirts for hiking - at least one long sleeve

  • Good rain jacket and rain pants - ​no​ ponchos

  • Fleece/non-cotton hat for warmth

  • Gloves for warmth

  • Hat with visor for sun protection

  • Sunglasses

  • Modest Swimsuit

  • Sandals that will stay on your feet and can get wet (Chacos/Tevas) - for rafting, kayaking, and around town

  • 1 work outfit for service projects - we might be painting, cleaning, etc.

  • Church clothes

 

Personals:
*Please note that Santa Fe stores are only 20 minutes away from camp where you can purchase the following items.

  • Twin-size bedding and pillow

  • Bath towels, hand towels, washcloths

  • Toiletries in small bottles to get through the airport (don't forget the spare contacts!)

  • Laundry soap; dryer sheets

  • Hangers

  • Sunscreen

  • “Must have” medications even if you do not use them often...like inhalers or epi-pens. Make sure you bring enough of your regular medicines to last the full length of the program.

  • Bible

  • Journal

  • School Supplies - Laptop, notebooks, etc.

  • Favorite Snacks
